How do I know if part of my soul needs retrieving?
The sense of loss never leaves, that ongoing, gnawing feeling of something missing lingers whether you are alone or in a crowd of people. Am I missing a person, a friend, a lover, a job, the place I need to be living in? The sensation of emptiness just does not seem to ease.
That feeling of not being complete, being restless, always looking for something new or the next best thing can leave you exhausted or forever trying to make changes in your life and never quite hitting the mark. Do you never quite feel complete within yourself or your soul? Would you like to find that missing piece of the jigsaw that would make you a whole person again?
Childhood trauma, a bereavement, an accident, a break-up, an illness, or a sudden change in life experiences or life path can cause a small piece of your soul to detach from your soul self and travel to the crystal cave to wait until you are ready and able to heal yourself. Only then will the broken-off piece of your soul return and with it a sense of peace and wholeness.
In my article on Shamanism in the last issue, I mentioned soul retrieval as a form of healing and would like to delve a bit deeper into this practice.
Quite often we can go through life searching for a piece of us that is missing but not always knowing what that is. It is the relentless gnawing ache that never seems to abate completely. It can either be a constant companion or raise its head every so often.
Soul Retrieval is an ancient shamanic ritual that helps the individual align with their soul after a traumatic incident. The Elder or Shaman from the community ‘leads’ this ritual and performs a Soul Retrieval ceremony to find out what the original nature of the trauma is. Often the trauma is not a big incident but any trauma to the soul can be damaging. Quite often a person does not remember traumas of childhood or previous incarnations, so participating in a soul retrieval ceremony can help to eliminate those feelings of loss and emptiness and help the person to feel connected and whole again.
The Shaman asks what the person, and the broken off piece of the soul, need to heal from the trauma. The Shaman supplies what it required to heal. This can be anything from a few comforting words, an object, even a promise to be more self-compassionate or caring. Once the trauma and related incidences are removed and the healing is completed, the Shaman then invites the broken-off ‘shard of soul’ back, to align and reunite with the person.
This is a critical part of the healing, it helps the person/individual feel whole, complete and at peace again. Each soul retrieval ceremony and ritual are different and depend on the nature of the trauma, how willing the participant is to release and let go and wanting to heal too. The broken piece of the soul will only reunite with the larger part of the soul if it is convinced that the person is sincere and ready to feel complete again and enjoy their life and its experiences.
Most often a person has the intention and the ability to heal themselves and can do so quickly, but in some circumstances, it can take a long time, or the person is not willing to or able to heal themselves. This is often the time when a Shaman or Soul Retrieval practitioner can perform the ritual and help in reuniting the whole soul for a more peaceful and complete life
If you have a feeling that something is ‘missing’ and want to explore the idea of Soul Retrieval healing, please do call or email me. It is a wonderful process and really does work as it aids in complete healing and living a more wholesome , fulfilling life.
