Many times, I have asked myself questions along the way to finding a more spiritual path, I sought after all the answers. Why am I here? What is my purpose? Am I really supposed to be doing this spiritual stuff? What is next on this path? Questions, questions, yet I think I came across the ultimate question recently.
I have been reflecting on my own spiritual development. After all there is always more to learn. It began when I started to really feel the grief of losing my brother and like many when in a moment in our lives when we feel vulnerable, hurt and in despair we question where we are, how far have we come and what is it all for?
These questions were not far from my lips and I can even admit with an angrier tone than I would usually have, when I felt a presence and a need to connect to Spirit, my guides who I know are never far from me wanted a word!
As I connected, I had this overwhelming feeling of surrender, a willingness to be guided and picked up and maybe even to be put back together again. I felt a deep love flow into my body and the words came out of my mouth “How may I serve?” Not even with intention, it just came to me in the moment with a deep knowing that it was the only question to be asked.
Things fell into place once more, all the work I have done so far and all the challenges along the way and certainly more recently, with all of that, I simply felt a deep knowing that ultimately it was all in service to the community, our soul community.
When the meditation finished, I felt compelled to take a moment to write quickly in list form all my challenging and various meaningful moments throughout my life. Then, I placed a word or two about the lesson I had learned; about loss; self-worth; valuing others; resilience; compassion and empathy…
As the list got nearer to the work I do today I had listed; healer, writer, spiritual life coach on the left and on the right, I had written learned how to see the value within others, how to teach and guide, how to channel energies and step out of the way, learned to work with others on a soul level.
The last entry was Light Language (in my meditation I had been shown how to use light language to awaken the heart chakra and knew I would be doing this for others to open up a new dimension in their lives) so I put Light Language Awakening and on the right without a thought almost automatic writing I wrote SERVICE.
All that had gone before was to this end, to serve. I had received healing in my meditation. I had surrendered to a greater energy than myself and had received this wonderful gift and a profound learning that all was for a reason. My soul was simply remembering what it had said it would do when we embarked on this human experience together.
I know everyone may not have this sort of intense experience straight away, it needs a little help but I do think we can all surrender to a greater force than ourselves and ask for help.
Service has more to do with being than doing. The doing as so often said is in the being. It doesn’t mean people pleasing or doing what you think you ought to do, no this runs deeper than that. It is following your heart-mind, your intuition, your feeling of joy, of fully being you and connecting to your soul who is working with the physical you from your heart. Love what you are doing and do what you love and in honouring that you will connect with what you have come to do. Then you will know how you may best serve your own soul goals, your fellow humans and your Creator who so dearly loves you.
My life has had its rocky roads and plenty of hills to climb but there has also been joy and laughter too, to match the shadows. Life is this wonderful mixture of experiences and I truly believe that the way forward for the Earth and our community that live upon it, is following our hearts to be of service to our family, our friends but also for those we don’t know yet and for those who clearly need our help. It is just a question of matching who we are and our gifts to the need and surrendering to it.
I have asked many questions throughout my life, then afterwards waited for some sign, synchronicity, and guidance towards the answers.
Had I been asking the wrong questions? Maybe along the way there were some mixed messages. Maybe we should just state with a clear intention “Here I am, use me, and remind me of what we agreed when I was just a soul waiting for this wonderful human experience. Remind me of what I wanted to do with all my heart, remind me of how I am going to serve.” To serve that something greater than ourselves because we are all connected despite all our differences, we are all connected and we can make a huge difference with just a little LOVE.
You can feel that same energy surge, to get you started try the list idea or close your eyes and surrender saying I am here “How may I serve?” Surrender and open your heart, the answer is there within you.
You may even completely change your life around just because you asked a question from a different perspective. What should I be doing? What is my purpose? They have a very different frequency to “How may I Serve?”
We are not separate, we are all connected and the reason we are here is that connection. To serve each other, to help each other perform our soul goals, to evolve into more awakened souls and to realise we are here through a Divine gift of life and that each life is different, each valuable and each on a journey of service whether we know it or not.
In these times of concern about mental health and wellness I believe we have to incorporate a wider perspective of our lives, we have to feel the losses, the grief, the despair, but we have to feel the wholeheartedness of being alive in a world full of a variety of experiences to choose from and also connect to a choice we have made already, our soul choice.
My service is to help people to an awakened position of remembering their heart felt path supported in the knowledge they are not alone.
I found my answer when I asked a different question. I wonder how your soul will answer the question “How May I Serve?”
