The concept or intention of change is that it brings the possibility of altering our lives or at least certain aspects of it.
Whether this is by choice or imposed on us, it nevertheless takes us to a different space and a fresh opportunity to bring something new into our lives. If we have made the decision to do or begin something new in our lives, then we do so perhaps in the hope that a change will open new beginnings and ways of living.
We embark on this with optimism and joy. However, as life is very challenging sometimes change is imposed on us whether we like it or not. This can bring negative reactions if it’s something that we are opposed to, and we really do need to be very motivated and enthusiastic to cultivate this concept of new beginnings. But remember it is only the personality that reacts, whether emotionally or mentally, positively or negatively, to changes in our lives. How we respond to changes is of course our test and challenge. The soul brings us this impulse from spirit to let go and release old habits, belief patterns, indoctrination etc.
It is worth remembering that this life on Earth is a soul journey and the whole point of this journey is to develop and unfold spiritual qualities and recognise the I AM within. To do this the soul needs strength, wisdom and a lot of patience. It is on this level that the soul can meet all of life’s changes, tests and trials in a space of ‘no-being’. In other words, it can accept and meet any changes in the outer world, ie the material or personality life, without the spirit within being affected.
This means that no matter what the personality faces by way of the tests and challenges of life, the spirit can and will remain untouched and detached. This is simply because the spirit understands the purpose behind the outer changes and can accept and deal with it without the emotions and mind pulling it hither and thither. It is therefore in a space of ‘changelessness’ untouched, detached by the outer circumstances and changes.
The fundamental purpose of our existence on Earth is to ‘find’ or ‘remember’ who we are.
Once we have done this, then the soul is ready to move onto a space of being which is unaffected by the earth/personality demands and changes. We can truly then move forward to receive the energies and vibration of a higher consciousness.
Then we are in that exciting space of truly just ‘being’. However, this is not just about our being in a state of nirvana but rather in a state of new creation, as a spiritual and human being, a holistic recognition of our Oneness. From this space, we can go forward to create and experience new consciousness and a new perspective on life that we have not known before. We cannot understand where we are going because this ‘new’ experience is exactly what it is ‘new’. We have not been there before, so the opportunity is with us to create our future from the knowledge of our present realisation and attainment. All we know deep within is that we do need to go forward.
In this modern society of ours, we are always surrounded by pressures of one sort or another. And it is the way we deal with this pressures that helps us to learn soul lessons. Perhaps every now and again we need to reassess our lives, think on where we are, where we are going, what we are doing, what we are achieving within ourselves and without. Perhaps it is time to change a few things or conditions in our lives. It is often said ‘change your thinking and you can change your life’. It is like having a good spring clean, a clearing and cleansing out. Things need to change. We cannot remain forever as we are. We need to change as individuals, as a nation and as the soul of humanity. We need to accept this changes for they are all part of growth. Not just our own growth but also the growth of humanity – this is Evolution.
Sometimes the pressure of life may seem never ending but sooner or later they do provide us with opportunities to look back and reflect on the soul lessons learned. The challenges and the circumstances we find ourselves in our all part of the learning process in our spiritual unfoldment. Our soul never stops growing, but it needs to continuously be tried and tested – this is known as Expansion of Consciousness. The soul can never stand still it must change. It must grow and evolve and usually it can only grow through the pain of birth of well tried and tested lessons.
Life itself, guided by our soul, our Higher Consciousness, with the impulse of Spirit behind, will bring us the experiences that we need for our growth. Each experience, each challenge is a steppingstone to the ultimate goal which is the full knowledge of ourselves as a spiritual being. So, what are these stepping stones?
- An awakening- something starts shifting within
- An awareness – there is more to this life than I have been aware of before
- An acknowledgement- yes, I am more than just my physical body
- A recognition- I can see; I can glimpse another aspect of myself
- Gnosis – yes now I know, now I understand
To walk the spiritual path means acknowledging accepting that there is more to you than just a physical. It means therefore that you acknowledge and accept others on earth as another soul on the journey.
The soul journey is one of inner exploration and excursion. The whole purpose of our lives is to discover who we really are. What is it that motivates? We have that inherent divinity within ourselves and our earth journey is to help us to realise this. The journey is the outer manifestation of a soul exploration.
There are no beginning and no end to the spiritual path. It is simply a continuation of life, of existence from one plane to another. We do not lose who we are, we do not lose our identity. It is merely merged into our greater self, our true spiritual essence.
We really do learn so much from the university of life. We may not attain degrees on the material level, but the soul has gathered the harvest of each experience. Nothing is wasted. The soul memory has retained it all and it is this memory that is manifested in our Akashic records. Every steppingstone along the way; every lesson learned is there for us to reflect upon, learn and move on. To do this, we must always be willing to let go and change.
Be not afraid to take that step forward! Use those stepping stones!
