Imagine you wake up one day and slip on the human identity you have, clothing for your spiritual self if you like. Then you become the star of a story, a story of ups and downs, a story of challenge, change, of defeat and success. In this story, this play that is the life you have before you, all sorts of interactions some trials and some sweet moments of connection. You love, you laugh, and you learn what life is all about, the hardships and knocks of not knowing what is next. Imagine for a moment that this person taking part is not the real you at all, instead a player, a character your soul is playing to learn all about you, to learn all about others too and to find the goal of true self, true compassion, and true love.
What if your life is just a story? What could you achieve if you were aware of this role you are playing, if you looked a little deeper and saw that there was a profound purpose for it all? What then would happen if in your deepest moment of despair, you gave in to faith of this something more going on? What if you chose to have trust and faith in this something more? What if you started to say “Well Universe you know what is going on and I am taking responsibility for my choices, but I surrender to what is. It is what it is and there is a bigger reason that I am unaware of just now that this is here for me.”
In other words what if you or I stopped resisting, battling, struggling and instead surrendered? What if you said, “I choose to be happy no matter what is going on because this is a story and as I am the leading player, I can change that story”? What would happen if you surrendered to the full being that you are and not the character you are playing?
This isn’t as hard as it sounds, this year has been hard for many, many are releasing old energy and the process is speeding up because we are here to start realising our full selves our true selves and that means surrendering all our old ideas, beliefs that have held us in our ego mind state. We need that to work in the physical with our human clothing and character playing within our life story for sure, but we also must surrender to the greater part of our selves now to connect with each other on a higher frequency and start seeing what a human being really is and why it is that.
These days there has been such a lot of discussion of who has been abused, misused, and not recognised. It is in fact a balancing act which must open discussion, acknowledgement not as a blame game but instead to open our hearts and learn about the compassion and love we hold inside us as human beings. Recently I watched a programme on Sacred Islands; there was a teacher who was teaching about his country from where his character in this life story came from. In the class of young adults one or two were wearing sweatshirts with the slogan. “There is only one race, the human race.” That was to me, perfect. It reflected just what the profound purpose of our existence is, a universal meeting of Spirit, surrendering to our full being and out true connections. The battles of abuse in centuries and decades past and subsequent improvement of appreciation of diversity reflect the Human vessel as embodied Spirit learning, learning what feels loving and what does not.
We are all in this world the same yet so diverse. What a wonderful paradox. The characters we choose to play teach us so much but at the core of it all the millions of stories we all play out are teaching us two things love and compassion and how to be our true divine self.
We can choose to surrender to what is and ask questions of ourselves, why is this in my life? We can ask what is it teaching me and how can I grow from this? We can compare our stories to others, and we can see our differences, our hurts, and our pain. We can battle through, and we can surrender to a higher divine purpose.
Acceptance of what is and release, letting go, saying it is what it is and surrendering to yourself and your ability to love through the pain and hardships is what truly makes us human.
We are here for an average of say 80 years, not that long before we return home and start again reviewing the story and our progress, then choosing another character to play and work through another life story, balancing some relationships and having another life mission until we get it. Until we truly get it, surrendering to love and compassion. Love and compassion for self, not beating ourselves up but just instead seeing the story for what it is, just that a story, and making the most of it by using our divine gift of choice within the constraints we have set in the story. Being our own director and producer and leading player.
The characters we play can highlight scenarios where we can misjudge, hurt, and deliver the most horrible of events but we have the greatest capacity to balance this out with our heartfelt love and compassion, kindness, and care.
We are all seekers; we are all looking to expression what is inside us. Life can be hard but like the other side of a vinyl record there is always another song, and we can sing it if we choose. Humanity can surrender to its better nature; it isn’t giving up and saying I can’t do this. Quite the reverse. It is saying we are better than this; the scenario that is playing out now doesn’t defeat me I can be my true loving happy self despite the clouds.
How do I know this? Well, I have had a hard time too, but I had the strength (eventually) to say, “it is what it is for a good reason”, like when you get held up in traffic and later find out there was a crash ahead.
There is always a bigger story, the real story. More real than this one we live in the physical. Time to let go of the story of our past and even the future and make sure we understand in this now moment just who we really are. Our characters we play and the players we choose to play along with us matter but they do have a deeper purpose.
That is why each of our characters is important, even those who seem so far removed from the love and compassion we can hold deep within us. In our everyday lives if we can hold onto this idea of surrendering to our greater self through those dark moments and help each other to do that, we could indeed become real stars of our very own individual diverse stories.
Surrender is not giving up, it is releasing out what we have within, surrendering that love to the world. That is why the world is how it is, to offer opportunity for us to do that. Each character in the play can do that and what an award-winning play that would be!
