As a channel for Spirit, I was moved to connect with my Guides to write this article on love. In those moments of deep connection, I was guided back to the letter on love channelled for the book “50 Letters from Spirit. A Call to Awaken” with the words “It has all we want to say within it.” This is a slightly adapted version from the original extract.
So, here is the letter on love from Marsilio, my guide who brought it through for us with his deep love and willingness for us to learn more about love and our SELF. (Where God, Source, Creator is mentioned please choose your own word, Marsilio uses these and interchanges them throughout the book).
Love is the most precious treasure. It is the reason for life
“Love is the most precious treasure. It is the reason for life, expressed in life on earth. There is only one way to achieve our ultimate goal, set by the soul. There really is only one motivation for all things we strive for upon earth. We act in the name of Love, we search for love and we regret and feel we have something missing in the name of love. We feel certain negative feelings follow certain behaviours through an apparent lack of love. It is the key emotion to our triumphs and our troubles. So how do we really define the feeling of love? We must hold this as a connection to our heart from Source. It originates in our souls from our Source, Creator, God. We are nurtured and loved in our formative years of life, or we have a lack of love in these years. Both situations, though, can lead to a realisation to real love and our ability to feel it and pass it on through our lives.
Let us, those in the world of spirit, explain. A lack of love can bring the soul to search and look for it in many places perhaps at first not really knowing what is missing. Then maybe a life of hardships, challenges and wrong choices may ensue. However, through it all one can begin to see patterns that do not serve the soul and so learning begins. From this an exploration can start and a discovery of the strength of self, perhaps a reconnection to Source, God, Creator. A realisation that true-love comes from within the individual, firstly given by Source to the soul. It’s then for the soul to search and find self-worth, self- esteem and self-love.
Self-love is a term which often gets confused with selfishness. Self-love is not selfish. It is of paramount importance as it can only be that an individual can give what it has. We need a root foundation, born in love and knowledge of who we are spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and physically combined together so we can love fully and truly. Often, we place conditions upon self as well. I am not worthy of love because I am not like this or that. I am different from the crowd. Well, we are all different. That is an important part of who you are.
So, we are on a journey of discovering we are worthy of love, that above all else we have to give that to ourselves, to make a strong foundation to offer to our gifts in the form of our physical life to the world. In our relationships with others, in our way we serve in life.
Another scenario may be that we do have great love at the start of our lives and having had that experience find it hard to find in other relationships. Once again, an exploration begins, judgements are made, targets of perfection are sought and missed, and disappointment fills hearts and relationships.
Eventually we realise the journey to true love starts with self, loving self in the same way Source offered to you in the beginning means that when you truly love yourself, warts and all. You carry yourself in value and respect and so attract to you other people who also love you with the respect and value you hold for yourself. Without arrogance and over confidence but in peace and contentment, you know your own worth in love. This then is a good foundation for you to love, respect and value another soul.
When this is in place, it is a small step to enable others to see their value in themselves, to be able to pass this on.
Love is multi-faceted and offered in many ways in different relationships and forms. Happiness comes from the love of God (Source, Creator) flowing through your soul and an awareness of that love in your physical life, knowing that even when you are alone, you are always loved. You are always connected to love from God, Source, Creator. It is this reassurance which enables us to remember our own self-worth, remind ourselves to love ourselves enough to give ourselves what we need and then go on to become who we truly are, a magnificent expression of God in an individual soul living in a physical body.
Life without love is impossible
Life without love is impossible, for the love of our Source, Creator, God never leaves us. It is US that separates us from the possibility of love by thinking we are not worthy of God’s love, love of family or friends. In this feeling of being apart from love, we make choices which do not work for us and then follow a path which confirms our lack of self-worth and lack of self-love.
To correct this, we need to reconnect with self, reconnect with the heart centre, ask for help from Source to show the way. Then, on this foundation, grasp the opportunity of help that is put our way. We need to make ourselves strong and offer ourselves the respect and love we deserve. It is an important part of life on earth. Self-love is the source of true unconditional love because we are part of God, our self that is soul is part of God and so cannot be anything other than love. For when we have that loving reassurance can offer it to others, not to be a crutch but to support, not to do for but show how to, not to expect but to allow attainment.
There are subtle differences to true love: it is acceptance of self and allowance of others’ own self-acceptance.
This is not a way to make the world self-centred, quite the contrary – it means there is co-operation rather than competition. There is no need to be a certain way in order to receive acceptance, diversity, and uniqueness is recognised. It is normal to be different and there is no normal but there is beauty, diversity, connectedness, self-worth and above all, there is love. It is the sweetest thing; it is the essence of life.”
