There are certain questions that many of us begin to ask at some point in our life. What’s it all about? Why am I here?
My own understanding is that we are much more than just this body and personality. We are all connected. We all have a divine spark of soul within us. This is who we really are, a soul that doesn’t die when the body dies.
We come here to experience being human, enjoy life, learn and to grow. We may have had many other lifetimes and bring learnings and traumas from those lives with us.
At the end of our lives, when we pass over and go home, we meet with our guides and helpers on the other side. We evaluate the life we have just experienced. There is no judgement. If we need or want to incarnate again, we then start planning our new lives.
This planning process is a group effort, involving our guides and helpers, and other souls who are also planning to incarnate. In this life between lives, we choose our next lifetimes themes, lessons, family, friends, and circumstances.
Then, with our soul’s plan in place, we come back into a human body. Life begins again. and we forget all about the plan, who we really are, and what we have come here to do, because forgetting is part of the plan.
Life tends to channel us down certain routes This world clamours loudly for our attention. It tells us what we should do, what we should think and how we should look. It’s quite difficult amid all this noise to know what we really want, who we really are.
It might seem that we don’t have any choice, we are swept up in the flow. But we do have power, the power to choose how we react to what happens in our life. That is the gift of free will. And as we are all different, we will react in different ways.
Even though it may not always seem so, we are quite powerful. When we make choices and decisions, make our commitment, and put in the necessary effort, we become powerful creators. Just look around you and see what human being are capable of accomplishing. We live in an amazing world, all because of human intention fuelled by effort.
So, how can we navigate through this world? How can we find and follow our souls plan?
When our choices and decisions are aligned with our soul’s path, we can sense deep inside that we are doing something right, we are on the right track. This is so even when life is challenging, and we need all our strength and courage to keep going. This does not mean we have lost our way.
Although we come through the veil of forgetting when we come here, we don’t lose our connection to who we really are. Our higher selves can still communicate with us. There is that still, small voice we can listen to if we choose. Our heart is our compass here, and when we are going in the right direction, it will quietly sing. When we go off track, we get that niggling feeling that something is not quite right, which we can still choose to ignore!
We are not completely alone, even though it might seem so. We are surrounded by unseen guides, helpers, and angels, who will gently try to nudge us in the right direction. But one of the Universal laws is that we must ask for their help, otherwise they can only watch We also need to be able to listen to them and learn from our mistakes.
Does it take effort to walk our souls’ path?
For most of us, yes. We are not saints. This world is one of duality, of light and darkness. We all have our shadow side, and we all have free will. We may hope to act from the best of intentions, but too often our shadow self takes control, and we become a bit selfish and even destructive. We can even lose our sense of compassion and humanity, becoming capable of great harm. to ourselves and others.
It takes effort to keep on track, but once we have made our effort, we need to be open to receive, let go and trust. A common mistake is to turn our effort into struggle and then get in our own way.
When I was initiated into Reiki healing, my teacher suggested we set our intention before a healing session that it would be for “the universal greatest and highest good.” I love that statement and have used it throughout my own life ever since.
Why would I really want anything that is not to the greatest and highest good of all?
