“Are you still connected?” is a question I have posed many times to others in the household when my Wi Fi goes down. Yet we could so easily ask this question of ourselves “Are you still connected to your SELF?” To the person you truly are?
Life is busy, it is a changing world we live in, transformation is happening whether we like it or not. So many issues to consider, the environment, work, people needing food, homes and a feeling of security, worthiness, belonging.
So, what do we have when the chips are down? We often turn to our people, our tribe, our connections to friends and family yet we rarely consider ourselves as someone to connect to, the one constant we always have, ourselves. I mean really connect so we know we are in the driving seat of our lives and that we can make choices, be it big or small to make a difference. To connect to our inner self and what it really wants us to be in this world. To realize we can change the world from the inside out.
My personal belief is that we all have a mission within us to take up in our lives, not necessarily to complete, sometimes it is simply a beginning of something which someone else can come along and carry on or move into the next phase.
We are all here certainly to experience the physical aspects of life and all the gambit of emotions that entails. We hopefully keep flowing through our experiences gaining understanding, compassion, knowledge, wisdom about ourselves and others too. To lean on others, accept, receive help, offer help, all sorts of daily scenarios. If you think of all the thoughts, interactions and situations that occur in a day on this Earth your mind can’t really comprehend the enormity of it all. Let’s give it a go, just stop and think about that for a moment. How all life carries on each day.
We are amazing. Full stop. That’s it, we are amazing. Now what we do with all that wisdom, knowledge, experience, well, that is for everyone to get connected to. Then when we have that understood, when we get that we are gaining something from everything we do, then we can use that in the best way possible. Even the negative, or less good stuff because it is all our own wonderful story, but it remains just that, a story of our being, of our existence, unless we dig down into it and choose something to use for growth.
One Christmas Day I was on my own, I think Christmas lunch was beans on toast. Really, I can’t truly remember. Both my parents had passed away, I had been a carer for Mum for part of that time, I was exhausted, my career was gone, I was splitting with my partner, and well lots more but you get the picture. I was in despair and sobbed more than I thought humanly possible. Eventually I stopped. I was in my twenties and life had shown me some tough times up until that point. I did the “Why ME?” speech, I should be out there finding out who I am enjoying life and look where I am instead. I got angry with what I thought as God and all the relatives that had passed. Looking upwards I asked, “What did I do wrong?” to feel like this, abandoned, alone and so sad. After some time, like a light bulb it dawned on me in my angry stupor…I shouted out at the top of my voice “I choose something different. I choose to experience happiness, love and joy something happy, please, please. I choose that, show me that!!!”
I had learnt that I could have something different, but I had to want it and oh believe me I wanted happy with all my heart. I went about changing things and some of the things that got changed just happened, I didn’t instigate them. It didn’t take the pain away, but I had decided that day, that was not what was going to be my only experience. It wasn’t all conscious but somehow my whole situation changed and fast.
I very soon had a new home, a new love came into my life, a new career which was fun and so were the people, I travelled, married and had two children. Then life changed again, and I studied and worked with all sorts of wonderful children who taught me about loving life. The road was still bumpy but rewarding and now many years later my connections are to self, my guides, and we work as a team to help guide people to themselves and go out in the world to achieve the connections they are here to make with others.
We are all connected, we are all from the same original soul energy. We are on different paths because each spark of that soul energy is unique and is here to experience from individual perspective for the greater good of the collective, to enable growth, love and understanding. To raise the consciousness of humanity and in turn where that fits into a greater Universe.
Hard for us to comprehend. We are a dot within a very large circle. Yet an extremely important one. You are a part of that, whatever you experience, fully connect to it, move with it and through it, when ready choose what is appropriate or just something different but connect fully in the moment.
That moment, that day, I had connected to the raw pain I was feeling, felt it completely, cried to myself, poor me, gone through it until I was so worn out with it that I decided I had experienced that and now I wanted to experience something else. On some level I had connected to the inner me that wanted something different. I was connected to the soul level that said, “You can have something else if you are brave and take what you have experienced with you not as a story to stay stuck in but as a comparison, as a learning of one thing” and as we thought about earlier, there are millions of thoughts, experiences and situations going on every day. Each day is a brand-new day to get hold of. To see what you can experience as you. To feel, know and connect to.
Connect to your emotions, feel them, let them inform you and then get on with changing what needs to change. Make that connection to what you really are here to experience. Take the lessons with you, not as a weight to hold you down but as a springboard to help you fly.
This connecting to the real you, the soul within you is a great gift and that is why I now have a very different perspective on the events of those sad times back then, they were my greatest gift, and I will always be grateful for the connection to myself that they brought me.
