Past Life Healing

Stacey was in her early thirties and clearly overweight. She couldn’t control her cravings for the wrong foods, she knew she was self-destructive and desperately wanted to regain control of her eating. I helped her settle into a deep state of relaxation and invited her to visualise a corridor with a number of rooms leading off it. Behind one of these was a past life that may reveal the original cause of her issues… She immediately chose one.

There we met twenty-two year-old Sarah, in 1765. She needed bread but had no money. Her husband John was a carpenter who made fine furniture but nobody could afford to buy it and times were hard. Then John died, leaving Sarah alone. When she returned to the market, people shied away and nobody wanted to help her. Unable to find food, she became weaker and died alone in her home, aged just twenty-five.

We did a great deal of healing work for Sarah, craving for food, and also for Stacey, who messaged me later to say that something had really shifted. Her eating habits had changed, the desperation had gone and she felt in control of her food intake now.

What was going on here? Alongside hypnotherapy and past life regression, I’ve studied various other

modalities and I’ve worked with and learned much from masters including Dr Keith Hearne, Roger Woolger and Judy Hall, following in the footsteps of the greats. Phobias, emotional trauma and relationship problems, I have come to believe, often trace back to a past life trauma, and for twenty-five years I’ve been helping my clients release the past and move on in this lifetime.

This came about because I had needed to conquer my own claustrophobia and turned to a hypnotherapist for help. That session was long and intense, taking me to ancient Egypt…

A young architect had gone to a site meeting at the palace he’d designed for the new regional governor, a favourite of the Pharaoh. On arrival, he saw that the High Priest was there too. The palace was nearing completion and aesthetically pleasing, with sacred geometry incorporated into the design. He did find it strange that a large slab of stone had been left by the entrance to an underground storage room.

The governor asked the architect to go down into that room to check its capacity for large amphorae. Carrying a flaming torch, he descended the steps but when he reached the far end he heard a scraping noise and turned to see the stone slab being pushed across the entrance. A joke, surely?

But no, the young man had been sealed in and left to die. In complete darkness and silence, eventually he understood. He had been secretly teaching natural laws, sacred geometry and ancient knowledge, forbidden by the High Priest. His secret was out and the penalty was death. The architect paid the ultimate price for teaching the truth.

The experience of uncovering my life as that architect not only cured the claustrophobia immediately, it inspired me to study past life regression, a path of healing and service to others.

Naturally, there are many opinions about what is really happening. Are clients just ‘making up stories’ or even dipping into ‘the collective unconscious’? Perhaps it doesn’t matter, as long as there is healing. Yet the concept of reincarnation features in many religions and cultures, going back thousands of years.

Academic research is now validating these long-held beliefs. Dr Ian Stevenson applied strict scientific standards in his forty-year study of past life stories, and Dr Jim Tucker continues that invaluable work. More recently, therapists including Dr Brian Weiss and Dr Michael Newton have added to the wealth of knowledge and understanding.

Their approaches are different, but their conclusions are the same: the soul is eternal, it survives the death of the physical body and is reborn into another physical body at some time in the future. Dr Weiss, a passionate advocate of past life healing, said in one interview, “The concept of reincarnation is that you have more than one chance to get it correct, evolving along this spiritual pathway. It’s really learning about love, compassion and kindness.”

I have my own approach and have found that, sometimes, a session with a client like Stacey will involve not only a past life but also talking to the excess weight itself! Barbara, at forty, was determined to sort out her weight issue once and for all and in a past life we found Florence, a seventeen-year-old kitchen maid. Florence later died in childbirth, alone and abandoned by the baby’s father. Having healed that trauma, I had the idea of talking with the excess weight itself because Barbara was holding on to weight exactly where Florence had held her baby.

“I’m making her miserable,” it said, rather arrogantly, “because I’m in charge. She can’t resist things, she’s been like this for twenty years now. She comfort-eats and looks forward to eating bad things… When she’s miserable, I feel I’ve done my job. I don’t want to help her.”

That was a challenge! During a long session, I negotiated new pathways and default settings with Barbara’s body regarding her eating habits. Very strange, yes, but Barbara emailed me two months later to say that she’d lost two stones in seven weeks, had stuck to her diet religiously and not binged or ‘treated’ herself once. She could not believe how well things were going for her.

All my clients are ordinary men and women who are open-minded about exploring the past life option. Their extraordinary stories, whether as beggars or nobles, inevitably bring insights and understanding of their lives as well as, most importantly, healing of important issues.
